Welcome to The House of McDonnell, the premiere traditional music venue in the Glens of Antrim!
The House of McDonnell has a long and distinguished history. Founded in 1766, it has survived wars, rebellions, famines,
and natural disasters. Part of the reason for its longevity is the fact that since the doors first opened over 240 years ago,
the pub has always remained in the same family. Since its founding, the pub has been run by the descendants of Archibald McDonnell,
and has been handed down from generation to generation until the present proprietor, Tom O'Neill, took over from his aunt,
Mary McDonnell, in 1979. The Clan motto of the McDonnells is "Toujours Pret", or "always ready". Tom believes
that the pub will be "always ready" to provide hospitality to anyone who happens to pass by.

On these pages you will find details of the history of the pub, our regular traditional music sessions and contact details
so you can find your way to Tom's and enjoy the music and atmosphere for yourself!
